Welcome to Professor Peter Nellist's STEM Group

STEM Group picture
The group seeks to develop advanced methods for the imaging and spectroscopy of materials at atomic resolution, primarily using the scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM), and to apply those techniques to a wide range of structural and functional materials.
A particular philosophy of the group is that technique development can lead to new discoveries about materials, and conversely that challenges in materials characterisation can drive the development of new techniques.
