My research is concentrated on how we can combine scanning transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy to investigate biological systems. In particular, I am interested in how these techniques can be used to locate and quantify elements which are physiologically important, but present in cells only at very low concentrations.

I obtained my BSc in Physics from the University of St Andrews, and joined the Department of Materials at Oxford in 2016. I completed my DPhil (PhD) in 2021 in the STEM Group, supervised by Prof. Peter Nellist, Prof. Roland Fleck (King's College London) and Dr Sarah Flatters (King's College London).
