My research looks to elucidate the redox mechanism of DRS Li-ion cathode materials using electron microscopy and computational modeling. The project involves using STEM to simultaneously acquire HAADF and EELS spectra to be able to link structural features to oxidation state changes in the cathode at various stages of delithiation and cycling. Additionally, computational modeling of EELS spectra will be utilized to gain additional insight and to corroborate experimental data.

Originally from Iceland, I got my undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Iceland in 2021. During the program, I focused on computational chemistry and did some research with Prof. Skúlason at Atmonia on the computationally aided design of ammonia NRR catalysts. After my undergraduate studies, I spent one year in the United States at the University of California Santa Barbara attending the UCSB Extension program. I joined the group in 2022. My hobbies are reading, listening to music, and brewing coffee and I row for the Lincoln College boat crew.
