Dr Weixin Song's research is the characterization of battery materials using electron microscopy and spectroscopy, including TEM, STEM, EELS, EDX and electron ptychography. His research is to understand the material local structure and chemisty to inform material synthesis.

Weixin completed his PhD at Imperial College London in April, 2019 before he joined the STEM Group at Oxford University. He is a postdoctoral researcher working on SOLBAT (solid state batteries) and CATMAT (lithium-ion cathode materials) projects funded by the Faraday Institution. He obtained the Bachelor (2012) and Master (2015) degree from Central South University, where he studied physical chemistry and chemical engineering.
